Expedition to Peru
Sacred journey to the Plants of Power and the ancestral lineage of Shamans
We invite you to a unique journey: a Pilgrimage of Power through the Andes and a plant dieta in the Amazon jungle.
Journey Dates:
October 23 – October 29: Cusco, Sacred Valley, a three-day trek into the Andes, and a Wachuma ceremony.
October 30 – November 13: Amazon jungle, living with a Shipibo family, Ayahuasca ceremonies, and dieta with sacred plants.
This is not just about working with the Plants of Power, but about entering a deeply healing and transformative path in the homeland of this Medicine. We will work within the field of some of the most powerful shamans and true masters of their art.
The retreat is guided by:
Maestro Gilberto Mahua (Papa Gilberto)
About the Maestro:
Maestro Gilberto – 76 years old.
Over his lifetime, he has led thousands of ceremonies and remains a living legend of the Amazon, one of the last masters of the old school still accessible today. His icaros carry the pure force of the divine.
He is the youngest of five brothers, all trained in shamanism since childhood. His father, grandfather, and ancestors were powerful healers. This is an ancient family where the knowledge of medicine and healing has been passed down for centuries from grandfather to grandson.
At the age of 11, Maestro Gilberto undertook his first dieta – lasting more than a year. He recalls how difficult it was at such a young age, yet this early initiation into the world of sacred plants shaped who he became.
From childhood, Maestro Gilberto and his brothers followed strict dietas of the Master Plants under the guidance of their elder brother. He could not play with other children – his path was one of devotion and training.
The first plants he dieted with were Ayahuma, Bobinsana, Waira Caspi, and Chiric Sanango. Later came dozens more.
He continues to walk his Path to this day with more than 65 years of pure practice. You can feel it the moment you sit with him in ceremony. His ability to channel and direct the energy of the plants is remarkably strong.
Pepe Ramos
Pepe began his spiritual path at an early age. He heard the call of his tradition and followed it, walking the ridges and mountain trails of Peru carved by his ancestors.
His awakening came through direct contact with the living mysticism of the Andes, when he felt the energy of the mountains Kausay - flowing beyond the physical and connecting him with multidimensional beings of energy.
Many mountains called to him in dreams, through nightly visions and encounters across dimensions. He was guided to continue his initiations in new lands, with new teachers and mentors, while deepening his understanding of Amazonian medicine: Ayahuasca.
He was initiated into the Medicine of the Andes - Wachuma, a plant of power used by the Chavín culture as early as 1500 BCE, still serving today as a gateway for restoring connection with ancestral energy.
Pepe has undergone initiations with the Apus the spirit guardians of Cusco Valley, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Apu Ausangate, and within the Q’eros nation the last bastion of Incan civilization. He also received the initiation of coca leaf reading in the Temple of the Sun at Inticancha–Pachacamac, among other sacred rites.

Amazon Expedition
October 30 - November 13
10 Days Living with a Shaman’s Family
We will live in the home of our shaman’s family and take part in the traditional practice of dieta (Sama), a method used here for hundreds of years. This path offers deep learning and direct connection with the science of plants and the spirits of the forest through ancient shamanic traditions.
Opening the Diet
The shamanic diet is an ancient Amazonian practice of working with plants, thousands of years old. It is a retreat-style discipline where one follows strict restrictions in food, communication, and external stimulation in order to connect with a “master plant.”
Through this process, the plant transmits its knowledge, cleanses the body, psyche, and energy, and restores connection with both oneself and the natural world.
Initial diets are usually held with gentle, supportive plants such as Bobinsana, Chiric Sanango, or Noya Rao. These plants help strengthen the nervous system, restore bodily sensitivity, balance emotions, and prepare a person for deeper processes. Each plant has its own specificity: some work with the heart, others with the nervous system, sleep, memory, or voice.
During the diet, we live in seclusion, in silence, in a small village on the edge of the jungle. We follow strict dietary restrictions, avoiding salt, sugar, oils, spices, stimulants, and any contact with the outside world.
These rigorous conditions are essential for the practice to work effectively. Isolation, dietary discipline, silence, and withdrawal from external stimulation create a space where deep psychological patterns are revealed. This allows one to undergo a process of true inner cleansing and transformation.
